Psalm 131 Divine Discontentment

Psalm 131:2-3

I have stilled and quieted my soul…..

O’ Israel

(People of God)

Put your hope in the LORD,

Both now and forevermore.

Striving, discontentment, angst, stress…..

The Psalmist has found the cure.

The cure for all these………

And all else.

I like to call it Divine Discontentment.

Guys,

Please notice……

David does not say…

The LORD quieted my soul.

He does not say…

God zapped me….

And made me feel better.

He does not say…

God waved a magic wand

And all my problems……..

 Poof………they went away.

No, instead David tells us,

“I have stilled and quieted my soul”

“I have” ……..really?…….. ”I have”……….

Wow…..

He did it himself…….

And goes on to tell us how to do it…….

“Put your hope in The LORD”.

Divine Discontentment…..

Yes there are things in my life I am not happy with….

Yes there are circumstances I would like to change….

Yes I am working to make those things better.

And yet it is not me……..

But Christ in me.

His Goodness.

His Power.

His Love.

His……

And so……

My hope is in Him…..

For now……..And for……. what’s next.

No worries mate….

He’s got this…..

He’s got me….

No worries.

So what about it guys…….

As we do what we do today……

As we walk out into the life God brings our way…..

Will we……not can we…… But……Will we……

Will we choose to live from a deeper trust in our Heavenly Father?

Will we put our hope in Him and so……..

Live……..Yes…….. Truly Live.

Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit,

Stoke up the great desire in me today

To live in Divine Discontentment.

Psalm 130 What's Your Life Worth?

Psalm 130:7

O’ Israel

(People of God)

Put your hope in the LORD,

For with the LORD is unfailing Love,

And with Him is Full Redemption.

Redemption…..

Deliverance by payment of a price.

Guys….

We have been delivered…..

We have been redeemed from the bondage of sin……

We have been redeemed from a meaningless, dead…… 

Existence.

O’ Christian…

We have been redeemed from death itself.

The price was the very Life of Christ….

God’s One and Only sinless Son……

The Only Begotten of God Himself.

The Very Life of Christ……

Is the worth Father has ascribed to you.

The Very Life of Christ……

Is what Father has paid for you.

The Very Life of Christ…..

Is what Father has given you.

Oh what Love!

Oh what a Gift!

Incredible.

Is it any wonder that the Psalmist calls on us….

Calls on us to put our hope in a God such as this.

1 John 3:16

This is how we know what Love is;

Jesus Christ laid down His Life for us…..

Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit of The Living God,

Thank You for my full redemption.

I receive Your Gift.

I receive Your Life.

Thank You.

Psalm 129 Yes We Can!

Psalm 129:2

They have greatly oppressed me from my youth,

But they have not gained the victory over me.

People are not your enemies.

They may oppose you-

They may attack you-

They may hurt you-

But, let me say it again……

People are not your enemies!

Jesus knew this as He prayed…….

Luke 23:34

Father,

Forgive them,

They know not what they do.

O’ Christians…… O’ Friends…….

Can we not turn our anger toward our real enemy…..

The one who has deceived our oppressors into being….

Well………being the kind of people who oppress.

Can we not begin to pray for the people who have hurt us…….

Pray that they would see through his deceptions……..

See through his lies……..

And so turn to the Truth.

Can we not begin to stand up to our attackers..…….

Stand up in such a  way they see the life of Christ……….

Yes……..they see the very Life of Christ in us……

And so in the standing up………

Do major damage…..

Major damage to our real enemy.

Of course we can.

Of course we can do these things.

The scriptures say we can………

So yes………

We can!

2 Peter 1:3

He has given us everything we need for Life and godliness…

2 Timothy 1:7

He has given us a Spirit of Power and Love and a Sound Mind….

2 Corinthians 5:17

He has made us new creations in Christ…..

And on and on and on ……….

Father

Move in us to be mighty warriors against our real enemy…..

Today.

Psalm 128 Our Greatest Blessing

Psalm 128:1

Blessed are all who fear The LORD,

who walk in His ways.

Blessed-

I wonder what it means…..

To be blessed?

Maybe it’s receiving

Good gifts…….

Good gifts from a Good God.

Maybe it’s receiving

Fullness of Life…….

Life that overflows with abundance.

Maybe it’s receiving

Health and Strength……

Health and Strength for purposeful living.

Ah, but could it be…….

Could it be that receiving all these….

Still misses what it means to be blessed?

What is our greatest blessing……..

But God Himself.

God Himself………

Who through Christ…..

By the Power of The Holy Spirit……

Has come to live in us and through us,

So that we might be walking, talking, living, breathing.….

Expressions of His Glory.

Oh Christian,

Walk in His Ways today…..

And so be blessed.

Yes, be blessed…….

Blessed to participate…….

In the very Life of God.

Thank You Father

For the Greatest Blessing of all…..
