Psalm 62 Hope and Rest

Psalm 62:5

Find rest, O’ my soul, in God alone;

My hope comes from Him.

I am hoping for a good day-

I am hoping for blue skies and sunshine-

I am hoping my wife (who has been sick) gets better today-

I am hoping work goes well-

I am hoping for some good time with my son today-

I am hoping to feel God’s Love for me today-

I am hoping something I do today………………

Puts hands and feet to the Love of Jesus.

Strange, isn’t it?

Hope……..

This looking for things that have not appeared yet-

Maybe even working to bring them to pass-

It seems almost to be the antagonist of……

Rest.

And yet………….

If I can remember to place my hope in the One-

The One who truly cares about-

The One who is truly able to do something about……….

The things I hope for-

There really can be……….

Rest.

Psalm 62: 11-12

One thing God has spoken,

Two things I have heard:

That You O’ God are strong,

 And that You O’ God are Loving…….

Father-

 Come to Life in my hopes today.

Amen.

Psalm 61 The Rock

Psalm 61:2

From the ends of the earth I call to You.

I call as my heart grows faint;

Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.

Sometimes it takes desperation-

Searching………

 to what feels like the……..

Ends of the Earth-

Sometimes it takes a heart that grows faint……

Before I will call out……..

Call out to God-

Before I will be led to……….

The Rock that is higher than I.

Psalm 61:3

For You (O’ Lord) have been my refuge-

A strong tower against my enemy.

Father

Help me to be willing to take refuge-

In the Rock that is higher than I.

Psalm 60 Seeing Hard Things

Psalm 60: 3

You (God) have made Your people see hard things-

You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger.

As I watch-

As I look-

Sometimes I see, yet……….

Still I don’t see.

Sometimes it takes hard things-

Difficult things-

Painful things-

Things that stagger me-

Things that knock me on my butt-

To get me to look at things……………

A different way.

Psalm 60:4

For those who fear You (God)-

You have raised a banner

To be unfurled against the bow.

Song of Solomon 2:4

He brought me to the banqueting house,
    and His banner over me was love.

Look-

Can you see it yet?

His banner…….

He wants you to see His banner……..

It’s there- Up high-

It looks like……….

A man on a cross-

It looks like……….

Love.

Father-

Do what You need to do-

So that I might see-

And so be changed.

Psalm 59 What Am I Watching For?

Psalm 59:9

O’  My Strength, I watch for You:

You, O’ God

Are my fortress,

My loving God.

What am I watching for?

Waiting for,

Looking for ?

Maybe…………….

My next lucky break-

My next disaster-

My next opportunity-

My next chance to have a little fun-

My next chance to help someone-

My next chance to shine-

The next person to cross me

A way to get even

A way to get what I want

Someone who might help me

My next …………

Father invites us to watch for Him

Jesus invites us to watch with Him

I wonder……..

If I begin to- more and more-

Watch with Jesus……….

Watch for Father…………

I wonder how that might ………..

Change me?

I wonder.

Luke 11:34

The eye is the lamp of the body.

When your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light.

But when it is bad, your body is also full of darkness.

Father-

Move in me today

To continually be watching……….

For You.

Psalm 58 Surely there is a God who........

Psalm 58: 1

Do you decree what is right, you gods (you mighty lords)?

Do you judge the children of man uprightly?

No………

Oh how I want to be the one who judges-

The one who decides what is good-

The one who sets things right………..

According to my own values……

According to my own purposes.

To tell the truth-

In my worst moments-

In those times when I am consumed with……..

ME-

In those times-

When I become a god unto myself………….

I judge the children of men.

As best I can see in the scriptures God has given me two tasks

And………

Judging folks ain’t one of them.

Psalm 58:11

…………….Surely there is a God

Who judges the earth.

Pray with me-

Father forgive me-

Thank You for Your incredible Mercy to me-

Thank You for Your incredible Grace towards me.

Move in me Holy Spirit

To do what You have given me to do-

To Love You with all that I am and think and say and do-

And…………..

To Love people with

The Great Love that pours from the wounds of Jesus.
